For nonprofits
Listing is free. We do not charge for placement and there is nothing to buy that moves an organization up a cause page. Our fee comes out of card processing at checkout, not out of the grant.
Claiming a listing
Most organizations are already in our index, pulled from state registries. Claiming one means proving you can act for it. Send the following from an address on the organization’s own domain to listings@naturedonate.org:
- EIN and the state registration number you solicit under
- The two most recent annual returns, and an audit or review if you have one
- A letter on letterhead naming who is authorized to update the listing
- Bank details for the grant payout, which we confirm by micro-deposit
Review takes about three weeks in the spring and closer to five in the fall, when everyone files at once.
Filing financials
Send the annual return within 30 days of filing it with the IRS, as a PDF, to listings@naturedonate.org. We take the audited or reviewed statements the same way if you have them. What we pull off those documents is the program expense ratio and the governance answers, both of which feed the accountability score, and the score is recalculated the week after we log the filing.
A listing whose most recent return is more than two years old loses the “financials on file” badge and its score reverts to unrated. It keeps taking donations while that is true; donors just see less about you.
What you control, and what you do not
You write your own description, choose your focus tags, and set your city of record. That is the whole of it. The accountability score, the program expense ratio, the donor count, the verification badge and the date you were listed are computed by us from your filings and from platform activity, and they are not editable. We will correct an error in any of them if you show us the document it came from.
Payout schedule
Grants are released on the 5th and the 20th, by ACH, for everything that cleared in the preceding period. Organizations scoring under 3.0 on accountability settle as a netted batch and are paid on the second cycle rather than the first; that holds until the next score recalculation moves them over the line. Every payout carries a remittance file listing the gifts it covers.
Chargebacks and refunds are netted against the following cycle. If a cycle would net negative we hold it rather than invoice you.
Fees
2.2% plus 30¢ per donation, charged to the donor at checkout on top of the gift. Nothing is deducted from the gift itself. There is no platform tip and no optional add-on.
Questions about an existing listing go to listings@naturedonate.org. Please include your EIN.
